Hello,
Did it happen to you that Save As works as Save a copy as? A new file is created but does not open. The error only occurs in version 2021.3.1.
Thank you for any advice.

I know this behaviour. It happens if you are
In that case Inventor performs a Save Copy As instead. I would say that is correct. If you do a Save As in this situation you would change your top assembly, right?
Hi Milan,
This only happens when Inventor is not allowed to save the file (readonly or blocked) on disc. Is the file writeable? Is it checked out?
Many thanks!
Hi,
thank you for your message. This behaviour happens if you are in an top assembly too.
I absolutely don't understand it 🙄
Hi Johnson,
Unfortunately, there is no Vault on the PC. Other people in the company have no problems with that.
Thank you.

Hi Milan,
Somehow your system blocks Inventor from saving the file. It could be user profile related. Try a few things. 1) Run Inventor as Admin. 2) Install all critical Windows updates. 3) Save the file to a different folder and see if it behaves differently.
Have you installed all applicable Inventor updates?
Many thanks!
Hi Johnson,
Unfortunately, it didn't help..
Interestingly, on the same PC, this works normally in the Inventor 2020 and older.
Thank you.

Hi @johnsonshiue,
Unfortunately nothing of advices helped us. Windows 10 has version 21H1 with all updates. For unknown reasons, "save as" works correctly in drawings
The same problem occurred last week in another computer.
Do you have any other advice please?
Thank you very much.

Hi Milan,
This might be related to Windows User Profile. For some reason, a particular profile or the type of profile is corrupted. Windows blocks the user from altering the Inventor files. Try setting up another Admin account. Or, change the UAC setting to the lowest level.
Many thanks!
