Since yesterday (5th March 2013) Inventor 2013 Pro performance went down to nearly zero. Could this be caused by a windows update? I tried to set back the system to the 1st of March. That worked for only one hour?? Today I tried again to set the system back to an earlier date with no result. If i have to type a contrain dimension in the constrain pop up screen I even have to wait nearly a minute until the typed number appear.
Does anybody have the same problem since a few days??
Thank you up front for replies and advise
Bas

Need a little more info.
Have you restarted lately?
Are you running a network license or a local license?
What are your system specs?

Are you running any other programs in the background that are possibly causing the slowness? Anti-viral type or scan type software?
I only run the regular Mc.Affee and I even did close all Mc.affee functions. This did niot help until now??
I do not have any clu so far. So if anybody has suggestions.
This is what I tried until now.
· I did set back the system in time
· I did try other parts and assemblies in other projects
· I did run the repair at the Inventor installation stick
· I update the graphic Nvidea driver to the most current Autodesk Inventor certified Driver (Nvidia Driver Release 276.42 [8.17.12.7642]
· Even updated the driver for the 3D Connexion SpacePilot
Try running a clean disk and a disk defrag. Get rid of all the temp files. Since you have McAfee see if it has a disk clean addin to run before I would use the windows version.
I am hoping that your version didn't get corrupted.

in addition to those suggestions it may also pay to check if your cpu is overheating. that will bog it down severely from my experience.
ie was it just inventor or the entire unit that was slow? is it ok for a few minutes after you start work in the morning while still cool?
i think there is a gadget you can install to keep an eye on cpu temp but only run it from time to time when checking the temp, not all the time. sometimes it causes issues i found.
Agree:
Windows
Graphics Card
Inventor - etc
Also, Try running Malware bytes - Malware will kill your system performance.
And if any of these suggestions don't work you might want to consider doing a
Any chance you are running off of a network? If so is there too much traffic? That could be an issue also.
Then reinstalling it with the latest SP.

Hi bas,
Another thing to check within Inventor:
Go to the Tools tab > Application Options button > Hardware tab
Make sure this is not set on "Use Software Graphics"
Sometimes if Inventor or the graphics card crash this setting can get changed accidentally. Running with this set to "Use Software Graphics" will result in extremely slow performance. So this setting should be used just for testing only.
If you set it to one of the other options, does this make a difference?
I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,
Curtis

Also tested all cores funktioning 100% witout overheating. Max 55C
Also tested the Nvidea card Bij extrema games test software, also no problems there?
Ok.
The next logical step is:
Pick up your computer
Throw said computer across the room
Kick and beat computer repeatedly with baseball bat "Office Space Style"
Go to lunch and have a beer

Olso tried that. Reinstalled Windows (clean installation. not a reinstalation) , Nividea driver and 3D Connexion driver
Together with all the above mentioned testing of the cores and the graphic card O am a bot out of options.
Anybody else more suggestions

Great suggestion!! When logged in as myself, the Inventor performance is extremely slow. It wasn't always slow - it just got really slow about ten days ago. After logging in as Administrator, the Inventor performance is great. So, this is a workaround for me, but I'd really like to understand what's causing the difference so that I can fix it and return to logging in as myself. I don't see any obvious differences in Windows task manager.

Open the 3D Connexion Control Panel.
Click Calibrate.
or
try unplugging the device.
Any difference.
We calibrate ours daily.
Change your permissions level to at least Power User or Local Administrator and see if that helps.
