Export all assembly components as a parasolid

I'd like to export all the components as a parasolid. I'd like to import the parasolid back as multiple bodies into a new part file. A multibody part file is what I'm after. It seems when i try to do that, it creates an assembly structure for me again. I don't want that. How can I create a multibody part file from an existing assembly?

Hi, I'm not sure if this what you want but let me know :

1- Create a new part

2- Click on "Import" in the "Create" section

3- Import your parasolid

You are gonna have 1 part with all the Solid inside without being inside an assembly.

Is there a reason you need to export as Parasolid if you only want a multibody part file in Inventor?

Assuming you don't need the Parasolid file, you can make a multibody solid from an existing assembly as follows:

  1. Create a New Part File
  2. Exit the initial sketch (if there is one)
  3. "Derive" - selecting the existing Inventor Assembly
  4. Select the multibody option (whichever style suits your purpose:

Done.
