Add a extra column to content centre and link to parts list

Hi I want to include some additional information of content centre bolts by adding an extra column and then being able to link this to my BOM and parts list. Could someone show me a workflow to follow for this?

Hi,

To be able to add columns to the content centre files you will need to be using a custom content centre file. You can't add to the default Autodesk files as they are read only.

In your custom content centre file, find the family that you want to modify and right click on it and select family table. Once in the table you can right click and add the column.

Fill in the column properties, and in the bottom drop down select custom. You can give it a name, and it will populate a custom iProperty in the part when it's created.

Once you have the custom iProperty you will need to add a custom iProperty column to your BOM. Give it the same name as you did in the contre centre table column.

You may want to modify your assembly template so that it's always there going forward.

For the property to apppear on you drawing parts list, you'll have to modify your parts list style to include you new iProperty. Select the parts list style you use, column chooser --> new property and add your new property.

Providing all the property names are the same all the way through, e verything should come through.

Adding to what @dave.cutting gave you, please note that if the Content Center part has previously been generated, the value from any columns added later may not automatically show up.  You may need to use the Refresh Standard Components command to get it ti see the added data.
