Revit 2015 - not able to install again after failed installation

Hello

I recently updated my Revit 2014 - 2015, When the installation was 6 of 7 steps done, an error occured saying i missed some files which resulted in Revit 2015 not functioning optimal. I then uninstalled it, and deleted all of my autodesk programs in control panel. redownloaded the program and tried to install it again. This time it said that Revit 2015 was already installed on my PC. I then manually tried to delete all files, but one file called RVT2015.mst cannot be deleted because it is running in a different program in the background. This is not the case, because I have no other programs running.

My student administration don't know the problem so no help from them. My next step is format c, but if you know the issue that would help alot.

Seems to be quite common issue, when I had a similar problem with Robot, I found this helpful:

http://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Product...

You can run the Microsoft Fix it utility to scan the installer database and remove the errant registry keys. The utility is a Microsoft tool that scans the integrity of the installer database and corrects issues related to installations...[link inside]

It might take long for the Microsoft Fix utility to scan and fix everything (on my machine it was 3 hrs or so) but eventually I was able to install Robot without it causing irrational problems.

Hope it helps

To Diagnose and Fix installation problems automatically, please see the new Microsoft tool for this here:

For more information on the Autodesk KB Support article concerning the clean uninstall of Autodesk products, see this link:

For all other installation problems carefully consider using the Microsoft Installer Clean Up Utility at your own risk. For more information on this program, please thoroughly read my forum post here:
