I have just installed Maya 2015 64-bit Student Version on my computer.
I am running Windows 7 64-bit Professional.
Maya 2015 installs but Mental Ray failed to install.
I have also installed 3ds Max 2015 64-bit Student Version on this same computer.
I have attached to this post a zip file called "Maya_Install_Logs_8_11_14.rar"
(I am unable to create a .zip because the Maya2015_x64_Install.log is too large for a .zip i.e. 65mb and only compresses down to 5 mb)
It contains:
Maya2015_x64_Install.log
Maya2015Setup.log
MentalRayPlugIn2015_x64_Install.log
Can you help me resolve this so that Mental Ray runs on Maya 2015.
Here is a post of the Maya2015Setup.log

Hi,
Can anyone help me resolve this situation?
I originally made this post on August 11 in the "Installation - Hardware - OS" forum section, but no one responded.
So I reposted this the other day August 14, in the "Installation & Licensing" section.
Maya 2015 has installed but Mental Ray failed to install.
Can someone please look at the log files I attached previously and help me resolve this situation.
Asburyj? Travis Nave?
Thanks.
My situation with Maya 2015 being installed and Mental Ray failing to install is still unresolved.
Is anyone at Autodesk help support going to help me with this?
I have exactly the same problem--EXACTLY--and so far no help from anyone on this. I am getting really fed up with Maya 2015 after spending a lot of time getting it installed (the easy "install now" feature does not work on the website, and the other two only sporadically work). After installing it, I then had a problem with the UV editor being missing (making the program useless to me). This was because of a problem with Nightshade, which I did not have installed. After a few days of trying to figure that out, I found out what Nightshade was and installed it. After that the UV editor worked, but then I noticed there was no Mental Ray and my Maxwell plug-in had vanished. It seems like every time I try to do one thing, the one tool I need to do it with is gone. I have Maya 2014 and would prefer sticking with that and just skipping this atrocious release, but as a teacher I have to use what my students use and they cannot get earlier versions of Maya--what a minute, can they? I just remembered that the Autodesk site allows students to select what version of Maya they are using. I think I'm going to tell them to use Maya 2014. That's it, problem solved.
Hopefully Maya 2016 will be better.
AP
Thanks for the response paqart . This is very unfortunate that no one from Autodesk has responded to this post at all. If it's a debgugging problem or some other internal software issue, then at Autodesk should at least have the courtesy to tell their customers that it's a bug or some internal issue that they'e working on. Giving no feedback at all is unprofessional and doesent benefit us customers because there has been no feedback for over a week now.
I'd really like to be using Maya 2015. It has some new updated tools, Bifrost, and allegedly Mental Ray has been updated for Maya 2015 (but I wont know that because I'm unable to install Mental Ray for Maya 2015).
I have both Maya 2014 and Maya 2015 installed, because that's what we use at my school as well. Good idea to have your students use Maya 2014. If anyone happens to be using a 32bit OS (such as Windows 7 32-bit) those students will have to use Maya 2013 because all versions above 2013 require a 64-bit OS (the same thing applies to 3ds Max).
Hopefully someone at Autodesk reads this and finally responds back regarding the Maya 2015 Mental Ray issue.
I finally got it running with Mental Ray, Maxwell, Real Flow, and Nightshade. The answer was quite simple: when it asks if you want default preferences or the old preferences brought forward, use the default preferences.
Best regards,
AP
Default Preferences? Where and when is that option given during the installation?
I do remember turning off a lot of the extra features when I installed Maya 2015.
If you uninstall Maya 2015 and Mental Ray, then delete all Maya 2015 folders left behind. After this, start installation over from scratch (it may not be necessary but this is what I did). Install Maya/Mental Ray 2015. When you start Maya 2015 for the first time, it will ask if you want to keep your preferences from a previous install of Maya. Click no, use defaults (or something like that) and hopefully it will work for you as it did for me.
Best regrads,
AP
You mentioned to uninstall Maya 2015 and Mental Ray, but Mental Ray failed to install with Maya 2015.
It did install for 3ds Max 2015. If I delete any Mental Ray on the computer, then wont I have to unistall 3ds Max 2015 as well (or Max wont have Mental Ray)?
If the same thing happened to you as happened to me, it did install MR, but the paths were broken. If it is already on your system when you install Maya/Max, it may not update the paths. Get rid of it and it will have to fix the links.
AP
I'm stuck with not having mental ray work for me either. I'm on the student version and I think that is the version that is having a hard time with mental ray. Deleted the preferences, reinstalled Maya, and then reinstalled all the service packs and mental ray for maya service pack. I really wish that autodesk would fix this, I've been trying to get the 'look' of my scene all week.
Also if this helps anyone, this is what I get on startup:
Same problem for me, education version, tried the fixes for getting MR renderer to work, no luck. Have reinstalled from scratch, still no luck.
I'm running Windows 10 Pro Technical Preview, but same problem on Windows 7 partition.
Same problem here.
Brand new computer build. Legit licenses of evrything in/on it. First time install of Maya (2015 SP5). I get this error on launch and File->New:
file -f -new;
// untitled //
// AbcExport v1.0 using Alembic 1.5.4 (built May 8 2014 13:47:10)
// Error: file: C:/Program Files/Autodesk/Maya2015/scripts/startup/autoLoadPlugin.mel line 46: Unable to dynamically load : C:/Program Files/Autodesk/Maya2015/bin/plug-ins/Mayatomr.mll

(Mayatomr) //
// AbcImport v1.0 using Alembic 1.5.4 (built May 8 2014 13:47:10)
updateRendererUI;
I have a Desktop subscription for a pro license I'm paying for and can't get the one thing I desperately need to work. The plug-in is where the error is looking for it (as indicated above).
I believe it is either an autoLoadPlugin bug, OR a Python script issue not finding appropriate modules. I have played with the Maya.env file with no luck and have been trying to get things working for days....
I hope this can help:
If your version isnt Maya 2016 thou, u can change the upper chose also on: http://knowledge.autodesk.com/ and then proceeding to the option: Download Finder
Sadly it does not because it asks you for a serial key. Even if you enter all "0's" like it says; you are given an error "the specified installer could not be found".
If you try and install an older version like finding the direct 2015 mental ray i get an error saying a current version of the file is already found. but I cant find a single file referencing mental ray.
