Autocad 2016/2017 after Micorsoft Update Version 1607

Autocad 2016 and 2017 after installing Microsoft update 1607. They open with an error message...

So far we have tried uninstalling the latest security update - no success

rebooting machine and repairing CAD 2017 - no success

Currently uninstalling / reinstalling Autocad 2017.... hoping this will fix the issue, but lengthy process.

I am guessing the latest update 1607 for Windows 10 break all Autodesk products. Simply avoiding this update will be a good idea for future reference until they have been fixed.

I've read that MS Visual C++ may also be the issue - I have not done anything with that just yet. Reinstalling program first and hoping for the best.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you,

G

I understand you tried uninstall/reinstall but that will not get rid of the files within your Autodesk profile... Try resetting the settings to default, using the following >>link<< as a guide.

Report back with your progress.

PS - I'm going to get this post moved into the Installation and Licensing forum.

was the error message something like the side by side install is incorrect?

if so uninstalling/reinstalling the autodesk products doesn't fix this

you will have to uninstall/reinstall  all the visual c++

What I found was that the update duplicated the C++'s. If you uninstall the duplicates, then run a repair, it should work fine.

Thank you for your feedback and fast respond.

We ended up reverting back to an earlier build of Windows 10 and that seem to have worked.

Thank you all!

I guess that's ok for now, but what about the future and other users? Just in case, please keep this post handy...

Seems Microsoft's constant changes is creating quite a challenge for everyone! I have just been updated to build 1607 and encountered significant issues, Acad2016 included.  It loads, then vanishes!  If your fix worked, what are the details of how to do it?

Thank you for the help.
