Exit After Upload

Exit After Upload

Hi everyone,

Sometimes it's a fun game of guess-and-check when exiting out of Fusion 360.

What I mean is, when you go to close the program, you're usually given the "You have designs being uploaded, if you close now they will resume when Fusion is reopened" type of dialog box.

Right now, you have to click "No", then check every few seconds to see if it is finished, since there is no auto-close feature or ability to monitor the upload progress.

I think a cool and helpful feature would be to enable Fusion to minimize (or go invisible) and fully close after all uploads have completed.

Thanks!

This has been brought up a number of times before.  Hopefully it will eventually be fixed because it's really obnoxious!

Yeah, I saw a duplicate in the "Related Posts" column, only after I posted
this thread (I can't delete it now)

But yeah the latest post where they confirmed to be working on it... Was
almost six months ago.

They probably forgot about it or don't have plans to add it anymore, but I
figured I would post it regardless, since it is a very annoying thing and
it makes it hard to use / close the program.

I think it could take someone an hour or less to code it in

There should really be an internal «mop up» team (or just todo list for any developer to grab from) of all of these little / obnoxious things that need to be fixed.

AirMail2's solution for the same problem I think is best. If it hasn't finished sending/receiving the emails, it prompts with 3 options:

We have transfers in progress.

Cancel / Quit anyway / [Finish transfer then quit]

I'd almost rather it be an option in Preferences, so I don't need to need
with dialog boxes twenty times a day

What I would really like is for the people reviewing these feature requests to mark them appropriately.  This idea has already been accepted here:

Why not mark this one as a duplicate?

I would argue it isn't a duplicate. The previous one was posted over 6
MONTHS ago. Still nothing 😕 It's more like a reintroduction of a forgotten
problem. Thank you for the support though

Either way - 22 votes here and 34 votes there, they're both well over the 10 vote threshold (though it should be a no-brainer even with zero votes).

It IS a duplicate, and should be marked as such to indicate that they really are (hopefully) working on it.  But left as is it makes you wonder what's going on.

The other request for this (that has been accepted) is in the top 15 most voted for ideas for Fusion; and combining it with this one might make it in the top 10.  I'm sure the fix for this is more complicated that it might appear on the surface, but with the popularity this idea seems to have with the users, it's hard to understand why it's taking so long.  It isn't THAT complicated.

OK, I'm done complaining now.  I'll wait patiently.  Smiley Tongue

think what's going on is that Carl (/ maybe somebody else?) gave the team a nudge to look at these, then for a little bit people ferociously went through flagging ideas, but they weren't intrinsically motivated and that fell to the wayside as soon as the pressure was off and they felt like they had sufficiently checked the box.
