I have a user that imported linework and text from shp files. the map came together but when you try to modify any text it vanishes and a regen does not bring it back. However, it exisit in the file; a qselect all text shows in the props palette but no grips show.
I cleared the map cache but it does not help. any ideas?

Did they use a Query? Are they sure they had the Draw option checked and not the Preview?
Recover?
All updates installed? Didn't 2013 have an issue with disappearing text?
???
Ghost in the machine? Gremlins? Voodoo?

it was an FDO saved as dwg
She did it in 2012

I think we got it. in the FDO style editor she was stylizing the polgon fill as no color as opposed to deleting it. I believe the no color solid ended up in the dwg ans was hiding it

There you go. Always an explanation but I was getting a bit nervous about narrowing the problem down to gremlins. 😉

You are confusing me Joe, thread title is Map Import ...... yet you said FDO. Now if the user used FDO and set a style to label then saved to AutoCAD format there was an issue in 2012 for the lables to hide. Don't know if a SP fixed that or not.
Sorry Murph. It was an FDO stylizing that was used. I'll check the SP although I think I am current
