Messed up? All Plant 3D projects are "read-only"!

Hi,

So, i think i have messed up all my files, i hope not. But, i have always had my Plant 3D projects saved localy on my computer. But for some reason i wanted to put them in the Vault i'm using. Problem is, it is Vault server for Inventor. (i dont know, or didn't know there are more Vaults?). So i imported all my Plant 3D files in to that Vault and now when i try to open a project or drawing in Plant i get "read-only" messages for the entire project.

Does anyone know how i can fix this issue!?

Thank you.

Hi admin_meab,

don't use Vault Client for creating a Plant/Vault-project. If you want to create a new Plant/Vault-project, when check on the first side of the new-project-wizzard the option "Create this project to Vault". If you haven an already existing project than open this project in Plant and execute command PLANTPROJECTTOVAULT.

Note that you need to have the same version for Plant and Vault installed. This means if you are using Plant 2018 then you have to use Vault 2018. If you are using Plant 2019, then you have to use Vault 2019.

To make you familiar with Plant/Vault projects, watch the videos of the collection of my colleague David Manning:

I hope I could answer your question.

So to be more clear of how and what i did:

I use Plant 3D and Inventor. For Inventor i use vault without any problems. But for Plant 3D i have only used my local storage. Never used Vault for Plant 3D. So one day i thought i should just drag all my Plant 3D files in to Vault so that it could be like a cloud backup. And i know it is wrong to drag files into Vault. But yeah, i messed up. So now all my files that are localy saved is read only. And im not able to work as i used to. So is it possible to kind of go back to what it was like before? when i just had my files local and not checked in into vault?

If configured, you can try to use Volume Shadow Copies. So, go to the project folder where you have formerly stored your project, select it and choose from context menu "Properties". There is a tab called "Previous Versions". Switch to it. If configured, you will see here several backups of your project, named by date and time. Select the one which was created just before you have done the things with Vault and restore it (maybe to another location to ensure that there will be no conflict with your Vault). If Volume Shadow Copies are not configured, please, ask your IT if they have stored another kind of backup of your project and ask them to restore it.

Hope this helps.

SOLVED!!!

So.. why make a small problem big? Just right click on the local folder on your computer and unbox the read only box on that folder. I then deleted all the files that are connected to that folder in my Vault and made a manual backup on an extern harddrive. Sure, this isn't the right way to work with the programs, but for the small projects i do work on, it works just fine to have them backed up on a drive.

Thank you all for supporting!
