Hi Rawan,

  • Which Service pack has your Map 3D 2015?
  • Which Format are you using for the Images? Tif, Jpg or others?
  • Is there any coordinate System Translation Need to Show the Image?

It seems that you use a intelligent Format like JPeg200, Ecw or MrSid.

If not, please try to convert it to one of These. They work with a density pyramid,

and Map Needs not so much Memory for the Image.

Here are some more proposals to solve your Problem:

  • Maybe that the Image is damaged in your Map Cache. You can delete the Cache and try again.
  • You can use the fdoprovider for Images inside the mapworkspace. When you use this, map can
    better manage his Memory
  • Try to convert the iage in a different intelligent Format. I have had also a Problem like this and nothing
works good. I converted it to a diffenrent forat like JPeg200 and all work fine.

Dear Scheel,

Thank you for your answer.

Kindly note the following points:

  1. I use AutoCad M3D without service pack.
  2. My images are in tif format.
  3. There’s no need to do any transformation.
  4. My images without cache.

I will try your suggestions and see if that works with me.

Best,

Rawan

Hi,

>> I use AutoCad M3D without service pack.

That should be changed first, make your product current.

>> My images without cache

AutoCAD Map 3D does caching, if you want it or not, so make the cache folder clean

As one image is ok and the other Tiff is it not ... have you tried to open the larger Tiff-file in an image viewer? (just to make sure the file is valid!)

As it is the larger image that failes: look to the task-manager and while loading the image what is the memory AutoCAD Map 3D is using and how much memory is built in your system?

What you also can try to change: use command _MAPCONNECT instead of _MAPIINSERT and see if your can load the image then.

Dear Alfred,

Thank you for your answer,

I download the service pack 3 and use it in my AutoCAD M3D but that didn’t solve my issue, also I clear the cache for images but with no effect. see below

the following screenshot shows the size of that image.

Also, I tried to use map connect command instead off map insert command but I have the following error also.

despite the fact that the same image can be added to ArcGIS, M3D fails to inset it . see below

so, what might the problem here?

Hi,

in the screenshot it looks like you are loading the image from a NAS drive ... what about first copying the file to your local drive C: and try to load it from that location?

I bet you're facing a compression issue, sir.

Extract the worldfile from the Geotiff, in Irfanview decrease the colour depth to 8 bit, save as LZW compressed, then load it in Autocad: what happens?

Dear Antonio,

Thanks for your reply, actually I did something near to what you suggest and that’s work fine with me.

I used “Export Raster to other format” option in ArcMap and export the tiff file to JPG file, then the AutoCAD Map able to insert the image.

Rawan

Hi Rawan,

please remeber my proposal trying to convert theiImage and try loading again.

Weeks ago I have also problems with a image till I convert it to a different format.

But my effect was, that I can't see the Image after successfull loading.

That was the reason I give you the tip to convert not as a solution but as a proposal.

Good to hear that your Problem is now solved.

Dear Scheel,

Many thanks for your answer.

Actually I tried to export image with other format from mosaic but t doesn’t work, so I export it as a tiff then I used “Export Raster to other format” option in ArcMap to convert it and that works fine.

Best,

Rawan
