XLIST won't display layer name

XLIST won't display the layer name for the layer within the xref, its only showing the parent layer name(xref drawing name). I know it can show the child layer name, as my old work had it working in Autocad 2012 and I understand Lt may not allow this function but I have Autocad 2014 and it won't show it in that either.

XLIST is an Express Tool.
No Express Tools in LT.

It would appear you did not install Express Tools in full AutoCAD 2014 either: you have to actively install Express Tools to get them in AutoCAD. Do so now like you did with AutoCAD 2012 back in the day.

I went into the reinstall menu and checked that the express menu was installed and did an update, then amended the character length of the XLIST.DCL from 30 to 100 and than tried XLIST and it still didn't work but when I entered -XLIST and that worked. Thank you pendean.
