Cannot get a detail drawing off the clipboard

I have been trying to get a detail drawing off my clipboard. I have tried to cut it. The detail is not even in my computer anymore. I deleted it from all files in my computer. I have tried copying and pasting the new detail into my drawing and old one is coming up. I tried attaching the new detail to my xref's and that is not working either. How do I get my new detail into my drawing?

Sounds like your trying to paste a block into your new drawing "The old one appears"

either

1. Rename your old block and then paste your new block

or

2. Use DESIGNCENTER and REDEFINE your block

hwalker, Thanks for the tip. I had renamed my block and that did not work. Then I purged my drawing and then I was able to get correct detail (block) into my drawing.
