Viewport Not Updating Correctly To Match Model (Sometimes...)

Hi,

Bit of a strange one this...

We've got a user who is having an issue (sometimes, not all the time) when they move an item in the model space and go back to their paper space viewport in there it shows both the old position and new one. The old position can't be pick or selected it's like it's just become frozen where it was. Is this something a setting might fix or a bug?

I've attached some screenshots he sent me so you can see what is going on.

When the dwg is closed and reopen that same machine does the problem go away or is it still there?  When another computer opens that dwg does the problem occur?

Hi @paullimapa / @cadffm,

It isn't the same when first opening (I think due to the regen).

But it does the same thing when opening on the same (or different) machine when you move parts again.

I've included a video so you can see the exact workflow. (This video was on my machine, in the same file that the other user reported the issue on)

I've also just checked on a new file and I get the same result, so it isn't specific to that file

Try opening the dwg with Recover command

What if you create a new layout then a new vport on this layout does the problem occur on this new vport?

Hi @cadffm,

This is in AutoCAD Architecture 2024.0.1

I've had a realisation when posting on here. This is something to do with the regen within the VPort. I've found a setting that stops this happening but I don't think it's the route cause of the issue, as other users have the setting as I originally did and don't have this issue...

The option I have selected what other have (and they don't have an issue) the top option I've drawn the arrow to does fix the issue for me though. I wouldn't say this is a solution but might help you guys figure out what's going on?

@Josh_Hudson97 Since a REGEN fixes your display-only issue as shown in your video, it simply means your video card is choking and cannot keep up with your AutoCAD.

As note by others, share with us a screenshot of your AutoCAD's ABOUT command op-up, plus a screenshot of the GRAPHICSCONFIG command pop-up please. You probably have updates and settings changes to implement.

That is likely what you need to choose for your setup. What performance harm do you see in making that choice?

You could also try... Setting GFXDX12 variable to 0 (that's a zero) then restart AutoCADARCH2024.

And possibly starting GRAPHICSCONFIG command and change the 2D Display Settings pulldown from "advanced mode" to one of the other choices.

In addition to @pendean post you should also update your graphics driver

Hi,

Thanks all for your help! I tried changing the first variable you mentioned and that had no affect even after restarting AutoCAD.

The 2nd thing you suggested (changing the graphics performance) this did work 🙌. The odd thing is though when I changed back to the original setting I didn't get the issue again 🤷‍:male_sign:.
