DOCK INLINE WITH STATUS BAR funky behavior

In AutoCAD 2016 when I choose "Dock Inline with Status Bar" by right clicking on a model or layout tab it doesn't stay docked.

Here's what happens. I have my AutoCAD window maximized.  I choose "Dock Inline with Status Bar" from a model or layout tab.  As soon as I use the Pan or Move command the model and layout tabs undock and raise above the status bar, even though the AutoCAD window is maximized.  I am only using one model and one layout tab.

Here's the funky thing: if my AutoCAd window is not maximized it stays docked with the status bar.

How do I make it persistent?

I can repeat and relink the older answers.
Not statusbar, STATUSBARAUTOWRAP

Hi,

>> when I type "STATUSBARAUTOWRAP" i get unknown command in Autocad 2018.

On my side that works well.

Can you please start command _ABOUT, create a screenshot from that dialog and show us that image?

And your Version? Screenshot of command _ABOUT

And if you try it as System variable?

(setvar "STATUSBARAUTOWRAP" 0)

not sure what you mean buy trying it as a system variable.

Ok, STATUSBARAUTOWRAP command and SYSVAR is not available in LT

So you have to use the context-menu on Layout-Tab:

this one seems to work

  • Do not maximize the AutoCAD program window but move its window borders to the edges of your screen.

thanks for your help.

My earlier post works for me but I read more posts and saw STATUSBARAUTOWRAP = OFF as another solution so I reset my monitor setting for text to 125% to test it.  The resizing status bar returned as expected.  I turned off STATUSBARAUTOWRAP and the problem disappeared.  Clearly system resizing of text is at least one condition where AutoCAD thinks it needs to wrap the status bar.

Autodesk please have a look at this issue.

John,

Can you check to see if I'm right about setting the system or monitor software to resize text (larger) outside of AutoCAD causes this problem if STATUSBARAUTOWRAP is ON?  It is "LG OnScreen Control" software for my new 4K monitor that I used and have confirmed will cause it at least on my system.

Hi @hencoop,

I think you are right that the wrap will occur if text size is increased to a certain threshold. I , unfortunately don't have such a display with which to test accurately.

I will try to do this on my hi-res MacBook in Bootcamp but I can't guarantee that it will behave identically so I am not sure it will add much value to this assumption.

I had the same problem and found the solution that worked on the AutoDesk website:

  • Enter the command variable STATUSBARAUTOWRAP and set it to Off or 0 (zero).

One may find this will work (+/- R2016 and above).

The command/variable mentioned in the earlier replies only changes

the "Dock Above Statusbar".

Inside the registry, HKCU ... Profiles section:

StatusBar.jpg

Manually set each item to 1.

???

Thanks for this answer, it helped me !

I accidentally set my tabs above the status bar with a speedy and uncontrolled right-click.

When I tried to get it back inline, the Dock inline option stayed shaded.

I looked into the registry and discovered that the variable "DockAboveStatusBar" still stayed on 0.

So I set each item to 1, reboot, then set its back to 0, re-reboot. And now, the problem is solved for me 😅

This does work, but it takes several attempts to get it to actually apply.

Also,  i have to type it all out every single time i open ACAD. My settings are lost every time i close CAD. So i have to go to Options, select Vanilla profile; turn on my workspace, adjust my properties dialog box and Layer Properties Mgr (they lose their shape, too), and worst is this STATUSBARAUTOWRAP. There's no predictive text option - you have to type EVERY LETTER.
I went into my CUI to try to define a shortcut but IT'S NOT A COMMAND SO IT DOESN'T EXIST IN CUI.
it's a System Variable. BUT IT ALSO DOESN'T SHOW UP IN SYSTEM VARIABLES!

I try SYSVLDG and SYSVARMONITOR and AFAIK, the ONLY way to adjust this is to type out entire phrase.

It's just lately i have to play with it a few times.

Expert users will say i need Updates. Maybe i do. I tried getting them and it's a surprising difficult process just to get the updates. I needed my boss to login on her A360 account. But then you need the pin that they send to that account holder. But it's only good for 5 minutes.

Then I got logged out and started entire process over.

Anyway, i finally got into account on my computer.... the system said there are no updates for MEP 2018.  I wasted sooo much time. This was last Feb.

Has there been a solution yet for Autocad LT?
