Apple has announced the next OS X El Capitan earlier today, and the first preview version is already available for app developers. AutoCAD team is starting to analyze the compatibility on this OS and preparing to fix the potential issues.

Some of AutoCAD users may have access to the El Capitan preview version, and would like to test AutoCAD on it. Please kindly post any of your findings in this thread, that would help other users and also the AutoCAD team.

Please include the following info in your posts for reference:

-OS X version(for example, DP1 15A178w)

-AutoCAD version

Thanks,
The AutoCAD for Mac Team

Why upgrade to 2015, I paid nearly a £1000 for 2014 a year ago. They need to sort it out

I agree.

As mentioned before, I thought Autodesk was offering some kind of upgrade rebate type offer for licensed customers like you (I seem to recall an email to that effect).

actually I am in middle of several projects so I am definitely waiting for an AutoCAD SP1 or to complete these projects because I can't deal with glitches or reverting back to Yosemite if something fails.

Good evening!

After upgrading to the osx El Capitain the program closes when using layer command.

Is there a fix for this problem ?

I can't believe they actually released AutoCAD LT for Mac 2016. Just in time for the Holidays. Happy Happy Joy Joy.

2015 still isn't 100% compatible with El capitan so I'm quite hesitant to try it given that fiasco. Can I install/run both separately (2015/2016) with desktop subscription in case there's an issue?

I wonder when 2016 Update 1 will be released?

If it's through the app, then update. Why wouldn't you if this is what you've been waiting for? I can understand concern that it may not work, but you won't know unless you try? It most likely is for "El Capitan", unless of course Autodesk reneged.

If you don't see an update through app then check your Autodesk Account page. That's where the update will first appear along with any info. That's what happened with me at least, before any pertinent webpages were updated with new info/links. It doesn't seem to be a public announcement, more tailored toward licensed users/subscribers via app or account.

well if you are in the middle of a project last thing you want is to see what happens when you update a software you entirely depend on.

on the other hand we, AutoCAD 2014 users, could play a round of drawing straws or paper-rock-scissor and whoever lose should update to El Cap 😄

Good for you! Are there any other volunteers?

Again, the only way you'll know if it works is to try it. Your complaints have been answered with an update - now it's time to try it. Unfortunately, it may not work for everyone - we know that all to well. But once again....

Maybe wait until this weekend or when your project is complete. That's the only advice/suggestion that can be offered.

El Capitan installed on my macbook pro. Already using and loving the pinned sites in Safari. Played with a couple of 2014LT DWG after SP4 update installed within Yosemite. Managed to edit and resize drawings and text without issue. Also plotted a couple to PDF. Worked fine. Not got time to use fully tonight and will do more over the weekend. But looks positive as I could not get that far before. Be cautious for now and I will report more after further use. Intrepid explorer over & out.

Good evening to all the team! Just I want to warn that I am not a native English speaker, so I apologize in advance for any errors, it is quite possible that I will not be clear enough.
First once again want to thank the team for the MAC AutoCAD, you guys are great, happy to testing a beta version. I enjoy the process.
I guess I'm the only one who is testing this program from the CIS countries and the former Soviet Union. Perhaps this is why my opinion is different from the opinion bolshenstve.
Before beta mandaler used AutoCAD AutoCAD LT 2015. OS X platform w El Capitan.
Apple appliances use about six months. Before this technique ispolzoal solely on the basis of OS window. Correspondingly I used AutoCAD for Windows OS. Currently severely lacking panels palette! Since the CIS countries adopted a certain system of annotation of drawings called SPDS. I would like to see the panel palettes, for that would reduce the time to annotate drawings. Unfortunately, at this stage of the annotations have to do on windows OS.
With great respect, Nikita!
