Testing network/server speed/capabilities and implementing vault

We currently have a less than desirable network/server setup. It's a NAS server and we're not running vault for AutoCAD Electrical or Inventor. We keep a lot of our ACADE setup on this server like the catalog database, schematic library, etc. and the environment file is edited to direct project support paths to various server locations. This has caused a lot of issues and can sometimes be very slow.  The company is considering buying us a new server and letting us implement vault, but I'd like to provide hard evidence of just how slow the network is.

Is there a way to do some type of speed test for opening a project from the network vs. locally?

Has anyone had a lot of success using the vault with AutoCAD Electrical?

Are there any server recommendations for running vault/engineering file storage?

Any feedback, experiences, or ideas is greatly appreciated!

Hi Nathan,

Here is a link to the System Requirements for Vault Professional 2018.

AutoCAD Electrical does not have an issue working with Vault., saves on errors.

My only tip is to check out all of the drawings in the project, so all the links can be updated instantly.

When you have finished check the files back into the vault.

Cheers.

Jon.

Does or can vault hold the resource files and libraries? Like your schematic symbol library, footprint library, default catalog database, footprint lookup, etc.?
