I'm taking a trial run with Autocad Electrical 2016. On start up (after I found out how to get rid of the Start Tab) I am confronted with "SYNCHRONIZATION WAS NOT SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED", without any hint of what might need to be done to correct this. Just what is trying to synchronize? Does it have something to do with the linking with Inventor projects?

I will do some checking into this. One question I have is do you also have plain AutoCAD 2016 installed?
I will post here as soon as I get an answer regarding this message. Sorry for this inconvenience.

I have ACADE 2014 currently installed.
I have the Design Suite Premium Installed 2015. Autodesk 2015 , I am getting ready to install 2016 next week. Disk space to low at this time. Had to stop the install process. This is when I started haveing problems, maybe.

One thing to try to see if it gets rid of the message is to change the system variable AEEMXDATAUPDATEMODE to 1. This changes the electromechanical sync to happen in the foreground. I don't think you will notice any difference in anything else but hopefully it will eliminate this alert. I will post as soon as I hear anything else.

Pat

This is not really my area of expertise but I will explain what I can - this is related to the sync between AutoCAD Electrical and Inventor. It can happen in the background or the foreground. ThIs variable controls which. Since it doesn't sound like you have actually linked electrical projects to an Inventor assembly I don't think it will make any difference that you can see. If you are linking, then setting it to happen in the foreground could cause a pause in your work while you wait for it to sync.
This is not a permanent solution but one to just get it so you don't keep getting this alert until I hear back from the experts on this.
Hope this helps,
Pat

Fantastic.
No I do not link inventor to electrical or do I plan to .
For me I am good with this fix. I will watch for udated info. I did read up about the AEEMXDATAUPDATEMODE and sync but like you I am not sure I understand all of it either.
THanks for the help.,

Hi all,
In AutoCAD Electrical 2016, we introduced location view which shows the component and wire connection information of the project. You will see the data even you do not connect to an Inventor project. To keep the data on the grid up to date, you will need to click the refresh button on the grid to trigger update.
The update has 2 modes: foreground and background (by default). The error message you observe is trigged when the background update fails to get the data. Setting AEEMXDATAUPDATEMODE to 1 turns it to foreground mode and this is a workaround.
One possible reason to cause the background update failure is the side by side installation of AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical (both should be 2016). Could you please share with us if this is your setup? If you observe such error message in other type of set up, please let us know so that we can investigate further.
Sorry for the inconvinience cause and thank you for reporting this issue.

I have ACAD Electrical 2014 installed, which I suppose could cause the same issue. I am just running ACADE 2016 as a trial.

All,
Just to recap what I have on my computer:
I have installed the 2015 Design Suite Premium and ACADE 2015 and updated to ACADE 2016.
ACADE 2015 did not have an issue.
ACADE 2016 would upon startup of the program fault and indicate a SYNC error. However, I did not get this SYNC error unitl I started the 2016 Design Suite Premium install which did not complete the install because of disk space. (not sure if this plays any role into my issue or not)
I have yet to install/run the 2016 Design Suite Premium update. Tried but I did not have enought disk space as mentioned above.
I did some house cleaning of files and will try again.
Thanks for the help.
My ACADE 2016 is running and I am doing fine now with this variable set to 1.

This fix worked for me.
I also had to set FILEDIA to 1, as the dialog box was not appearing for file open, save as, etc.
This wasn't happening 2 days ago...what changed between then and now?

I don't think the FILEDIA is related to this.
Sometimes scripts or commands may turn off the FILEDIA while running. So if it was cancelled before completing, the FILEDIA may not have been set back to its original state. If it happens again, I would recommend starting a separate post and providing details about what you were doing when it changed.
