ZOOM EXTENTS PROBLEM

If I have an Arial or several other fonts defined in a 24"x 36"drawing. When I zoom extents, it adds several inchs of dead space to the top of the drawing view (nothing on hidden layers). Same if I plot the drawing by extents. If I set all styles back to txt zoom and plot extents works fine. Any suggestion other than making all fonts txt.shx

I've never seen a font choice alter how plot margins are created, or zoom extents.
Can you post this drawing here? Delete whatever is unique or confidential but ensure the problem actually exists in this posted file.

we've had this problem for years. it will do this on every machine we have.

It doesn't always do this when we create new drawing. the problem first appeared on drawings from one machine about 7-8 yrs ago. but he always plotted by window and never saw the problem.

If you get a chance, we'd all like to see it in action on one of your DWG files.

I had attached one to my last reply.

Did you have another method in mind.

It appears that reply was via email.  I believe you have to attach files while using a browser to view the discussion forums.

I have attached a scrubbed dwg and a png file

The png file is of the plot preview and it was set for extents and there were no hidden layers.

They are empty text, they are there but can't be seen.

There are autolisp and tricks to delete them

They are empty text strings.

They can be seen if you zoom e and then zoom back a bit.

They can be deleted in the BE (cause they are embedded  in the TB) by turning on QTEXT and selecting/deleting them.

 Regards,

DJ

PS: Don't forget to turn QTEXT off or all your text will be rectangles of the bounding box of the text

PPS:  A regen is required after the QTEXT setting

Thanks,

I've got it now. I found the strings in the titles. at first it did want to show them then after using the wcs I was able to turn the drawing and view the problem.

fixed our titles and redefined in the drawing now zoom extents and plot extents works fine.

again thanks you
