relative polar tracking

I was trying to use relative polar tracking to draw lines perpendicular to edges of an angled surface, but all it snaps to is what ortho mode would have done, not relative to specific lines at all. The UCS is set to the surface. Is there anything i'm missing for this to work?

You should be able to force by preceeding -

@ is relative

# is absolute

Well, now that I read this again, I guess this isn't what you are after.

A sample drawing or a screencap illustrating what you would like to do might help.

adding @ while drawing the line made it go exactly where it needed to! Thanks
