Internal error dbqspace

I'm having problems with a specific machine.Intermittantly comes up with the message INTERNAL ERROR: !U:\global\inc\dbqspace.h@386: eDwgObjectImproperlyRead
when opening certain files. All other CAD stations open these without incident, and even the problem machine will sometimes open the file. Any one else seen this specific message?

system details...
Toshiba 6100 laptop
1.7 gig pentium IV processor
512meg ram
Windows 2000professional srv.pk 3 and all current hot fixes
Nvidia 32 video (I currently do not have access to the laptop so i don't have specific driver info)
AutoCAD 2002 (base, no service packs installed)
I should also note, I'm just the Network admin trying to help out an end user, I am not by any means an AutoCAD power user. i did already do a search of Autodesk's knowledge base, but didn't find any specific reference to this problem. There were general references to dbqspace suggesting looking over system resources, etc. Which i have done (temp file cleanups, system defragging, etc.)
