It's been well documented that 3d gates are much more accurate than beam element gates for 3d models. So I'd like the ability to create a dual-domain mesh from beam elements for gates. I would use this to easily create 3d gates. The technology to do this already exists when you create tool files for Cool(FEM). But it's a real pain to do that to a whole tool just to get a gate.
I am ok with having to stich the new gate in myself.
I would like to add the ability to open Logs file of a job that is running without having to open the file itself. Important as 3d files get larger and larger. At times I do not want to open the model due to the amount of RAM required if I am already near limit of RAM. I see this often during cooling analyses.
I may be bit lazy to ask this option, but I feel it must be.
1. There must be a option to transfer process parameters, including material details from one study to another study.
or else every time with new study or with new mesh needed to apply the inputs from previous iterations.
or else
2.There must be a option to export process parameters, including material details from one study as a file & that should imported to other new study or with new mesh, when ever needed to apply the inputs from previous iterations.
we have script to generate thickness plot, which can be added to results or exported to MFR(communicator file)
It should be readily available command or option in moldflow as many users dont have script to generate thickness plot
Maximum 2 studies are allowed to be exported to mold flow results file (*.mfr) only first 2 studies of selection will be exported.
It should be allowed to export as many as possible studies.
Initially it was allowed only 8 results plots to be exported per study in earlier versions. Now it is possible to export as many as possible results.
The same way, it should be allowed to export as many as possible studies and will help in comparing more different iterations.
I know this is an old point but wanted to emphasize it as it really influences our work with the software.
We have defined several macros and commands by which we work with the software. Examples would be
a.) generation of wall thickness results to be exported
b.) marking of standard results for report
Normally we work with multiple instances of the software. Every time we want to export some results, we have to
change the opened projects as we only have access to macros/command line on the first instance.
It would be very helpful to have macros/command lines available in every instance.

This is something you need to have to enable the user to make more accurate analysis.
The parts I design are very small, the biggest is 40x9x9mm, most of them are much smaller.
The option to choose High Analysis Resolution is not good enough.
BTW all competitiors have the option to control mesh size for the basic modules, so you might loose your advantage since they are closing the gap very fast.

I would like an 'All' option for Intermediate Results in the Fill+Pack solver parameters. I find it frustrating that solver timesteps are solved but not outputted for results. As it stands, you either need to:
- Use the 'Write at constant intervals' option, which will miss timesteps for fine timestepping.
- Use the 'Write at specific times' option, but this requires us to know when all timesteps will occur before running the analysis, or to assume a very small time interval.
I understand that computing resources will be tied up for results output and file storage, but this option would still be of use to me.
Midplane mesh visualization,
With beam elements, we can visualize as axis line as well solid.
Similar to this, for Midplane mesh triangular-elements, we should be able to visualize as solid cad model after applying thickness and visualize s as a solid option (similar option is available in hyper mesh).
It helps to cross check assignment of thickness with cad model, especially in Midplane mesh environment.
An Option to Dump results in between the analysis
In Sigma soft (competitor software similar to mold flow),
there is a option to dump the analysis in between, then stop the analysis. The, next time you open the study and re- launch the analysis, it will start analysis from where you stopped it.
In mold flow, we need similar option
i.e In Between; we can stop analysis instead of aborting and close the study. Then,we can re-run from, where we had stopped it. So that we can save time, incase we need to abort the analysis & re-run after some time,
When creating dual domain mesh from assembly models directly for over-molding analysis, we may want to have a quick check on mesh quality using mesh repair wizard. However, mesh repair wizard always check all the models and it will report intersecting problems. I will suggest that the visibility option shall be available in mesh repair wizard.
moldflow should be able to estimate the time for analysis.
when ever, we are launch an analysis, moldflow should be able to pop up tentative time to complete the analysis.
it should be based RAM/ memory / processor availble/solver settings and number of nodes/elements
Better comparability of material option from data base, than existing option
It should be possible to export in excel/PDF/PPT format all the data available in mold flow database.
like comparable in table, overlaid graphs.
need of compatibility with older Material data base (*.UDB) file.
With recent release, we are facing problem with using available Material data base (*.UDB) file, which are not compatible with latest release.
Or else, we need to request raw material supplier to create updated UDB to support latest release.
Due to compatibility, many times projects are getting delayed.
Proper results visualization
Time to reach ejection temperature, Part and Runner –there is limitation in Moldflow
Time to reach ejection temperature (cold runner) - shows only for feed system elements with beam elements.
Time to reach ejection temperature (part) shows for feed system elements with tetra elements as well as part tetra elements.
I'd like to have the study notes added to the mouse over feature that currently shows imported file name, mesh type and # of elements, material, and # of injection locations. This would allow me to see what changes I did to the study without having to open the study. This would be a great benifit for large files, and important when looking back a studies months, or years after you worked on them. See picture.
I would like to see all ribbon tabs available at all times. Then when I'm in Mesh ribbon, I wouldn't have to click Home, before clicking Geometry. I could click any tab at any time. This will result in less back and forth clicking. And there is plenty of room along the current dark grey bar to add them all. See attached picture.
Example:
we have a single study having the 3 different feed system options. Just, we must be able to exclude two set of feed system from analysis & run with one set feed system only.
Right now, we need to create duplicate study for each feed system option, delete other gating options & run with only feed system option.
If we have this option, It will be easy without deleting other feed system.
It may be similar to the option, exclude from warp analysis for feed system/ tetra elements. we should have one more for flow/cool analysis.
option for creating elliptical curves & creating node of ellipse centre
This may be used rarely , but it is one of basic entity, many times needed.
