To all,
I'm trying to create a Parametric Detail Part and it seems as if this is not so easy.
In the past I was linking my old AutoCAD detailed parts (Blocks) to Revit, tracing over them to create a new "Dumb Part".
Now we would like to properly create a part that changes with the information being plugged in however, something simple like adding a reference plain in the "Z" axis seems to have me at a stopping point.
Tried researching this on the "WikiHelp" and there seems to be nothing out there
As usual any help, or a point in the right direction would be appreciated.
Thanks,

If you are creating parametric "detail" components, using the Detail Component template, then there is no "Z" direction. Detail components are 2D only. This is what it looks like from your image.
In a 3D family, you would change view to an elevation, and place a Ref Plane there. In the picture you included, notice in your project browser, that you only have a Plan View available.
What are you trying to create?
Scott,
I had planned on creating some "Custom Conduit, Ductwork or Sleeves" not necessarily for the HVAC (Mech) Electrical, or plumbing families which is why I was just calling this a detail.
Please refer to the attach PNG files (my original "AutoCAD Files") which I am trying to re-create in Revit.
Ideally, I would have something similar to a "Cube" and all I would have to do is designate size (LxWxH) material etc., etc., etc.... and have this be shown in all views.
To All,
This has been resolved on another page:
Thanks again to Scott Davis and a special thanks to "Lei Lan"

Upon following the online screen cast (http://screencast.com/t/1TSfQRTm9) and review frame by frame, and...
Another “Read through” of my printed documentation I was able to successfully create a blank “Parametric Part” that is editable via the properties dialog box.
Lei Lan also provided me with a new part / Family which I will test as a "Duplicate"
THANKS AGAIN !!!
