Can someone explain to me how when I open up the residential default.rte the view range is set to
Primary Range
"top" associated level (first floor) Offest 0'-0"
Cut plane [greyed out] associated level (first floor) Offset 0'-0"
"Bottom" Level Below (foundation) Offset 4'-0"
View Depth
"Level" Level Below (foundation) Offset 4'-0"
but when I try to do this in my file it says comes up with an "error:Bottom clip plane is set above the cut plane." Does anyone know why this happens and how to fix it?

Thanks
John Fleming

It depends on where your foundation level is relative to the first
floor. In the template the foundation level must be located more than 4'
below the first floor which would make the settings work. If the
foundation level in your project is set at a different height relative
to the first floor (at the top of the foundation for instance) then the
4' offset will conflict with the cut plane giving you the error message
shown.

Thanks Robert, that explains it.
