Content Center and Part's parameter option

Hello,

We want to customized parts upload to the Content Center.
These parts can cover several designs, so we have created parameter in order to select core design option ; show as list-box when part is imported into an assembly.

This selection determines which others parameters will be used for this part.
In some case, a specific parameter is not use, but still displayed in the insertion Dialogue Box.

How to deactivate or hide a specific parameter for a specific member of a part of the Content Center ?

say in another way:
for instance a part in Content Center with parameters: A,B,C
this part contains 2 members describes like this:
+row 1 : A, B used ; C not useful (we want to hide it in order to focus user only on in use parameters)
+row 2 : A, C used ; B not useful (we want to hide it in order to focus user only on in use parameters)
+....

in attachment, 2 screenshot which illustrate my question

Thank for your help

I've run in to the same dilema and I hate to say it but I don't think there's a way to do this yet through content center. I've created many parts for content center myself and I've yet to found a way to make this happen. In which case, I'd make multiple templates. Unfortunate, but it seem necessary.

Hi Aurélien,

Unfortunately, this is not possible, because you cannot define in the same family table in the Content Center, one column to behave as a key for some members and not as a key for other members.

What you can do referring to your example, is the following.

Make a Save Copy as of the family creating the family with hole and the one without hole.

Save as.png

Edit the family table of both families.

Remove the key column you don’t want to see in the insert dialog of the specific family.

Key.png

Redefine the column property according to your need.

Suppress the rows you don’t want to use for that family.

I hope it can be useful.

In case, let me know if you need more details about the procedure.

Kind regards,

Alessandro

Hello Alessandro

In my example "Choose Hole Diameter" parameter is not a key, but just a parameter of the model.

I don't want to "delete" unused parameter but just to have the ability to not dispplay it into the insertion dialogue box.

(parameter still exist in the table ; its value could be frozen ; no need to display it)

moreover, I know that it's possible to split in 2 family this part in this case. But if you have a part with a bunch of options, you certainly don't want to split it into numerous "sub"family which will require to be maintain separately...

So, my demand is just a small and easy "cosmetic" improvement.

Hi Aurélien,

Sorry for being unclear, but, I was suggesting just a general procedure.

If you see the column when you insert the component and it is not a key, it is because it’s a custom column.

Even in this case, you cannot set the column for behaving as custom just for some members and not for others.

You can ask your enhancement request from the link below.
