We are trying to develop a corporate standard on print areas on paperspace.
Was wondering if anyone have any input on how to go about this?
As it stands now, we are running a PC/MAC hybrid environment, but want to eventually migrate to a full MAC environment.
The DWGtoPDF.pc3 standard has been proven it's usefulness, in that we don't get errors pertaining to the driver not being installed when going into a layout page setup settings on the PC environment.
In the MAC environment we don't have this luxary and we are looking for a solution.
While I understand that if we require to pull up files that were created with the DWGtoPDF.pc3 layout, that we would need to change this to the new full MAC environment standard.
We can slowly do this.
Is the best way to accomplish standardized printing area paperspace is to create a customized papersize with the printer we currently have in our MAC environment to match those dimensions of the DWGtoPDF.pc3 driver?
And if so, can anyone help out on what values I would need to input to create the customized papersize?

Page margin sizes is usually the problem: which of the two AutoCAD version drivers have the widest margins would be the 'default' print areas to use in all your template file layouts.
Hi Kevin,
You have to create custom paper sizes on Mac with names and dimensions matches the information recorded in drawing database during you create Page Setup on PC.
To accomplish this you can use AutoLISP to extract exact values.
I attached AutoLISP routine, that could help you. Load it with APPLOAD command, open Layout with page setup you want to extract information from and call P_SETTINGS command. You will get this dialog:
from which you can copy values for Custom Paper Size name and paper dimensions (including non-printable margins).
Now you can create Custom Paper size on your Mac (via any of print capable application, hope you know how to do this). In paper size name you have to type the "Paper Size Name" - in example dialog it is "ARCH_E_(36.00_x_48.00_Inches)", fill in paper dimension fields according values given in above dialog:
Now you are done with Custom Paper size, that will match DWG to PDF.pc3 settings and AutoCAD will use them when you print (save to PDF).
Further more, you can create new printer (or rename one of the printers you already have on your Mac) with the name "DWG To PDF.pc3" an you will not get an error message like this one:
when you will try to print DWG file with Page Setup, created on PC.

Customizing my own print page settings, it won't allow me to use mm, only cm (mm gives me an error about "fell short of minimum" window). But when I use cm, I find that the software rounds it.
Would you happen to know if the software retains the full input? eg. it rounds .57937 to 0.58cm
And also, instead of running the LISP routine on each layout, do you know if these values for the DWG to PDF.pc3 paper sizes are charted somewhere for download (eg. word or excel document)?

Hi Kevin,
I think you have not to worry about rounding units, as in Mac OS all information about Custom Paper sizes stories in PostScript Points format and in any case you can not set "rounded" value in mm for paper size and non-printable area.
As about Paper Sizes, that are storied in DWG to PDF.pc3 on PC, here are all Paper size names (already converted to "Mac readable" format:
