I ran into a problem this morning where I can no longer launch P3D properly. First thing this morning, I made added a flange to a spec in the spec editor, then launch P3D to use my new added flange. P3D opens to the main screen (showing receltly opened file and project) and just sits there, I cannot click on anything in that window, not even the "X" to close out. The only thing i can click on the the link to the AUTODESK exchange. SOMETIMES, I would be able to click on the OPEN and I would try to open a DWG (from inside a project or outside of project, attempted both P3D files and non-P3D fiels).. It would open, but then it just freezes, no tool bar ribbon, nothing responses, while the application appears in windows task manager as still running. Here is what I have attempted:
1) tired is to reverse the change on the spec - same result
2) replaced the specs with an older revision from a couple of days ago which everything worked fine - same result
3) http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/AutoCAD-Plant-3D/FATAL-ERROR-at-startup/td-p/3029450 - I do not even have the plantwelcomeenabled under the specified location, also attempted with the "opening a regular non-P3D DWG from win explorer and still comes up with the same result - same result
4) Tried to just move the specs from the specified location - same result
5) Tried to move the project I was last working on to a different location, trying to trick P3D into looking at a sample project or some other project at welcome screen - Fatal Error - 0x26bb1c00 at 3f9aebbfh
my system:
HP Compaq 6200 Pro MT PC
OS: Windows 7 64bit
Processor: Intel Core i5-2400 @ 3.1GHz
RAM: 8 GB

See if turning off the welcome screen helps? you might have to go into the registry to turn it off if you can't get into plant.
my problem as listed in one of my points is when I tried the Welcome screen fix, I do not have "plantwelcomeenabled" under the described location. (I have tried logging in as administrator and as well, my user account has admin rights already).
Does the same thing happen with another user on that same PC?
i might be off the track but...
when you say "described location"....are you browsing the hard drive or looking in the registry?
My PC is the only one with P3D installed so far, but I will get someone else to log in and give it a try.
Thanks for your reply
OK, I think my IT person resolved my problem. His take was... " if that registry entry is not there, put it in.." So he created the "plantwelcomeenabled" entry and set value to "0"... BAM... I'm back in business.
