Measurements and O-Snap Ext jerky on high-end cert GPU

AutoCAD LT 2011

Title says it all really.

My laptop is HP 8740w with ATI FirePro M7820 which is a certified GPU (and about as powerful as you can get on a laptop for now). When I use the measurement tool, it gets very jerky and slow b/c it has a hard time updating the dynamic text. I use o-snap extension a lot and that gets jerky when it tries to use the dynamic text too.

I am using the most recent drivers released by HP for the GPU. My CPU is i7-820qm and I have 4GB RAM (at 65% utilization).

Any ideas on how this might get fixed? I'm pretty bummed this powerful of a mobile workstation is choking on AutoCAD LT.

No, its the 32 bit version.  All check boxes were active.

Same issue here with instability. I'm using 64 bit ACAD LT and my compatibility settings for the shortcut are disabled. I can disable Aero and stability is resumed.

Douglas,

It seems as though W7P64 is a common factor on systems that are locked out of the settings boxes. Are you abel to verify this on your end?

I have similar issues on W7P64, no workarund fixed them.

But I also tried the 32bit version of LT2011 on a Win XP 32 bit  machine and it seemed to be all smooth and fine before I activated the product, once activated I started to experience the jerky cursor performance.

On W7P64 it works well worse than on XP32 though!

Is AutoDesk looking into this issue in relation to W7P64? There sees to be several of us with the same problem on this OS.

I have some additional problems with this anomaly that I would like to report. Perhaps others could test this to confirm.

When using a Windows Aero theme this is what occurs;

The properties window of dimension lines and multileaders is very slow to initialize. Once initialized and after clicking one of the property fields, the properties window attempts to re-initialize and is very slow and almost unresponsive.

Turning off the Aero theme and using the Windows 7 Basic theme all this unresponsiveness and delay no longer occurs.

It appears that several 2011LT users running W7P64 are having the same performance issue. This issue is worked around on other W7 versions by turning Aero off for AutoCAD LT in Windows Compatibility Settings (pics included earlier in this thread). This option is not available to W7P64 users. Is there way for me to open a case file with Autodesk? Is anyone at Autodesk addressing this issue?

If you have HP Protect Tools installed try removing it. This worked for me.
