Ok so I call up the layer manager and I'll choose new layer
I'll then change the colour of the layer to what I want, click on OK and close the layer manager.
Now I immediately draw something on that layer, and notice it's the not the colour I want, but the colour of my previously selected layer.
So I go back into the layer manager and lo and behold it's changed the colour to the previous layer's colour.
So I then change to to the rightt colour and it stays/
Long story short
Layer 1 is blue
I create Layer 2 and make it green
Close Layer dialog box
Go back into Layer dialog box and Layer 2 is now blue

Layer palette or dialog? I seem to remember that layer palette changes don't always stick unless you click somewhere else in the palette after you make the change. (Although I'm having trouble finding the threads on that now.)
Dialog. Yeah and I think that's what I need to do. I clicked away from one and it's colour stayed as I wanted.
