AutoCAD to MS Word

I copy the drawing inside AutoCAD and paste it into Word. DONE! Looks Great!

But each time i clikck on this vector drawing inside Word it starts up AutoCAD - this takes 20 seconds - its a background process.

(single click - yes I know double ckick will open the vector darawing in AutoCad for editing)

This makes my creation of the product manual that I am working on Extermely slow.

EPS - i do not use it because it only supports 5 colors.

WMF - i like it - simple and fast but it doesnt support gradients...

What can one do?

Would the PNGOUT command in AutoCAD work for you?  It's not a vector format, but it's not lossy like .jpg and it supports gradients.

PNG is great for renderings - but i really need vectors... otherwise it looks horrible when scaled down...

What about PDF?  PDF can be either raster or vector based.  Otherwise, I can't think of any other options for you.  Sorry.

You might also try *.dwf format.

Take a look at BetterWMF, that may give you better results, at least better than the default WMF output. Otherwise, you may want to look at Corel Draw or Adobe Illustrator as an intermediate step between CAD and Word -- and only apply your gradients in those graphics programs rather than Acad.

I use this tool http://anydwg.com/dwg2img/ to batch export DWG to vector WMF/EMF, you can import/edit the vector WMF/EMF file in Word.

As solerapc stated, snipping tool to copy into MS word works great, from time to time I create manuals or instructional sheets for colleages using this method.

Provides High Quality images and are very easy for MS word to handle.
