I'd like to create custom reports from BOMs, using report templates created with VS - like a "Project Dashboard" for folders. In this template I'd like to use grouping, filtering, custom columns, headers, footers, diagrams, etc., instead existing almost non-customizeable printing and exporting.
I would have to agree to an extent. There needs to be more we can do with an Item Bill of Materials. Exporting to Excel, for example, does now export the formatting (multi level indenting) of the BOM, you just get a big list of part numbers that have no relationship to one another.
Also, like in Inventor, there needs to be a way to filter out Items that would be "Phantom" parts in your assembly... such as frame sketches and other skeletal parts that have no real bearing on the BOM.
