Display View on Second Monitor Macro

Display View on Second Monitor Macro

Hello All,

This is a general question regarding api capabilities.  Is it possible to create a macro that will allow a view to be dragged outside of Revit and docked on a second monitor in the same way the project browser can?  Or, is adding that functionality not possible with the api?

Thanks

Dear Energygroup,

Thank you for your query.

I am not aware of any support at all in the Revit API for accessing or managing multiple screens.

If that can be done with the Revit project browser, I would assume that that functionality is somehow built into and provided by Windows itself.

However, if the project browser can be dragged to a separate screen, then I would assume that a dockable panel can as well.

Dockable panels can indeed be implemented using the Revit API:

Since a ready-made dockable panel is provided as a Revit SDK sample, you can try it out for yourself right away.

I hope this helps.

Best regards,

Jeremy

Is it possible to create a view window that is allowed to move outside Revit, or to show a view in a dockable panel?
