problem with rendering white textures using mental ray

Hiya,

I'm having trouble with my rendering. I'm fairly new to using maya but I had a uni project to make a robot. To me it looks pretty good in the viewport but as soon as I render it doesn't look so good. Especially having trouble with my white texture. I used the UV map, imported it in to photoshop to make the textures but when I put it back on the robot it went a shade of grey instead of the white I used? Wondering how to avoid this and make the robot colour white whilst still showing my textures (I added some 'dirty marks' to the white) and also not have it too over exposed. I've added screenshots to show what I mean and one of the hypershade texture I've used.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks, Amy 🙂

Hi amycraig, what are you using for the background and also what lights are in the scene?
