All,
I'm working on setting up a new machine. I have Windows 10, Inventor 2019 Pro, Visual Studio 2019, and full admin rights. When I attempt to run the developertools msi, I get an error that says "Could not find any version of Microsoft Visual Studio". I've tried extracting files from the msi using msiexec, and tried another version of the .msi designed for older VS versions. I've scoured the forums and can't find any solutions recent enough to cover my issue. Does anyone have a .zip file of the developer tools that I can download? Or a workaround for Inventor's inability to see VS 2019?
Update: I worked around the situation by downloading VS2017. The msi executed with no problems.
My whole reason for wanting the developer tools was to have the addin template for VS. Now that I have the tools, I can see the template in VS2017, but not in 2019. It appears the SDK needs to be updated to support VS2019.
The SDK as I understand it supports only up to the version that Inventor was made with. Usually this is a version or two behind for Visual Studio. VS templates should be under a path similar to the one below and you should be able to copy them to the newer VS template folder.
C:\Users\username\Documents\Visual Studio 2012\Templates\ProjectTemplates
Inventor 2020 is built using Visual studio 2017. If the project templates are available at Visual studio 2017 templates as shown in below image, then addin templates are available in the template list to create a new project.
Thanks and regards,
Hi,
I have Inventor 2019 and not able to install SDK. Could you please provide the VS template files for Inventor 2019.
Thanks,
Venkat
