I use sketches to define the positions of different drill holes. However, the sketch is not always on the plane from which the hole is to start. So you always have to click on the plane from which the hole is to start and then transfer/project the point for the hole in the automatically created new sketch. This is always a bit complicated. I have to close the window to measure the distance from the nearest associated hole on my structure assembly. I speak of all such Inventor Browser ( https://help.autodesk.com/view/INVNTOR/2024/ENU/?guid=GUID-EDF6B951-C309-44A8-868C-B72D99F6D5A7 ) tabs, but I'll use "Model Browser" as a specific example for descriptive purposes, here. I also am recommending this for Part, Assembly, Drawing environments, all environments where browsers exist. Users have requested that they be able to COLLAPSE the Model Browser to the side. This behavior is very common in many applications including other Autodesk software, so I believe it's understood when I suggest collapsing them. The included screenshot includes the existing state of my own Inventor window as well as a mockup showing what I am asking for. The collapsing behavior would be akin to the difference in the Ribbon Display when it is set to either "Show Full Ribbon" setting (which is analogous to the current Model Browser display) or the "Minimize to Tabs" setting which is analogous to what I request. Minimized/Collapsed tabs of the Inventor Browser, such as "Model" or "Vault" could be clicked on or hovered over, at which point they would temporarily show expanded, until the mouse leaves that area at which point the Browser would return to being collapsed/minimized.  I expect there would need to be a button added next to the "Search" or "Display" icons on the Inventor Browser title bar, to Collapse or Expand, depending on current state, which would toggle the display. The details of how this is implemented is up to the UI/UX team, of course, but that's the general behavior I would expect & we are requesting. Reference Image:   Show More

Perhaps this is too similar to the Nesting functionality, and thus may require the parts described to be Sheet Metal parts, but I frequently lay out collections of parts on a drawing for two purposes. One, so the fabricators can verify which parts are what and two, so the linework can be easily exported to Autocad for the CNC department.   What I want is the ability to lay out flat all of the parts of a given assembly and ensure the orientation is correct without manually verifying everything.    This idea is similar to the Autocad plugin A>V>C> Lay.      Show More

Hello, When creating an Inventor drawing it should be possible to generate a dashed line (after selecting the corresponding lines in the drawing view) to define the information what surface coating has to be applied to that surface(s) and the location(s). Of course, it is possible to create a skech in that view and to create such a dashed line by hand. But it would be very helpful if there would be a tool in an Inventor drawing to define such a dashed line by just clicking on the corresponding lines in the drawing view. And after placing that dashed line in a fitting distance to the corresponding lines, a window/text field should open to insert the text do describe the surface coating. Please see the attachment. I have a sketch consisting of three lines in a "U" shape. I can select all three of those lines as the "Direction" for a Rectangular pattern, and the pattern will follow entire the U-shaped path. However, if that U-shape is inside a sketch block, then I can only select one of those three lines as the "Direction". Show More

I would like to suggest the ability to set the "Look For:" field when searching for Content Center parts to "Members" as default, a setting in the Application Options or keep it as last selected.  I find it more useful to use "Members" over "Families" but it always reverts back to "Families".  Thanks       Show More

When placing views on a drawing I think it would help if clicking the orientation cube would flip the view to the other side of the cube. E.g. when the front view is shown, clicking twice in the middle of the cube would flip it to the back view. I think the time saved would quickly add up. Show More

The Inventor Server offers significant advantages for automating models that are too complex to be generated in an APS environment. Therefore, I would like to request a substantial extension of the API interface for Inventor, and thereby the Inventor Server, particularly concerning IDW (drawings). More and more users/customers want to enable automated models, including the corresponding drawings. However, there are notable gaps, especially in the area of drawings (e.g., reordering dimensions), as well as in parts and assemblies. Nothing saves companies more time and money than partially or fully automating content and models. This is only achievable through a comprehensive API. Unfortunately, the GUI significantly slows down many processes, and creation via the Inventor Server would be much faster. Due to the lack of API functionality, many tasks can currently only be implemented using the full Inventor application. I often have issues with constraints making errors, because there is a part, there is 0.001 mm off or some equal ridiculous small offset.   I would like to be able to set inventor to always tolerate offset there are less than 0,05 mm offset. and just place the things as well as possible within that tolerance, is that possible.   like in the attached example. is the correct position for Bend_3 X: -96,873629023 mm  Y: -233,873629023 mm from Bend_1 If X is -96,8737 mm instead, it complains.. so that is less than 0,0001 mm off. I can understand that 0,0001 mm can be important if working with microscopic things, but I am working with welded parts and pipes, where the smalles pipes we use are Ø35 mm, so all those tiny decimals it totally unimportant for us.   I do know, that I can set min/max limits in each constraint, but I would very much prefer to be able to do it as a world setting, or maybe just as a dokument setting. but I can't find anywhere so set it.
