Infraworks needs to implement Civil BIM. After years of marketing it's time Autodesk actually implements Civil BIM so we can leverage an actual model based design. I want to be ablility to tell my kids that I'm designing curb and gutter instead of getting blank stares when I tell them I designing feature lines.    The curb and gutter objects need the ability to have a tools found for feature lines in Civil 3D. Allowing us to set elevations at certain locations, insert grade breaks, set grades along a path (and automatically removing the grade breaks I inserted earlier or not depending on a setting for this), talk to the pavement object (that will be part of another idea station idea) and have the pavement object react to the curb and gutter changes. Due to processing power limitations this could be updated at the press of a button.   The curb and gutter will have intellegent information tied to it such as a C or CN value, a mannings n value, and recognize the adjacent pavement to determine if the spread is allowable or if it floods the first floor of an adjacent building.   Show More

Dear InfraWorks, How I wish you become a bit maturer and graduate from being like a lost child. I feel like you have great potential if only you focus! Currently you can produce lines by point extraction yet the line work is useless in InfraWorks. You create nice visualizations yet not dynamically linked to the detailed design. You create roads and drainage networks that are impractical for a detailed engineer in the office. You want to analyze traffic, yet no one knows about your abilities. You have easy to use terrain analysis tools yet the terrain itself is inaccurate. Please stop being a jack of all trades because you’re a master of none!   You mingle with GIS, BIM and CAD. Yet you don’t want to learn from your friends. We have a bunch of useful parts/pieces within InfraWorks 360, i.e. Parking Areas, Land Areas and Design/Component Roads.  What we need now is for them to communicate with each other.   I want to be able to design an access road up to a land area/parking area and have the access road communicating with the site.  I would like to see how the access road grading interacts with the land area/parking area grading.       Show More

I would love to see more detention pond design tools. In addition, once we get new detention design tools, lets make it so it can interact back and forth with SSA.  It would be great to do preliminary detention pond design in InfraWorks then expert to SSA for more advance and accurate design and calculations. I was working with a client on a project the other day, and I was showing them IW360. While they were impressed, one thing came up as a wishlist item; Geotechnical. They liked the pipe networks, but was wondering if there was a way to show the geotech surfaces under the terrain surface. I explained that I might create some in another program and import them into IW.   While this manual approach might work, it would be even better to bring in geotech data and have IW build the surfaces for you. Then allow the user to add thematic attributes to color the layers, show section cutaways (this is a separate request), interact with some of the watershed tools. These surfaces would also be useful in visualizing FAA approach surfaces for airports, weather layers, CFD layers and other similar surfaces. I am sure there are some geotech engineers out there with some comments. Show More

Culvert assemblies can be published in the IPE (InfraWorks Parts Editor), but they don't work in InfraWorks. The idea is to support culverts the same way as "Inlet and Access Structures". Show More

The following idea comes from this thread topic.   It would be great to, at the very least, have a terrain theme available to show slope arrows on a terrain (similar to the Civil 3D surface property to show Slope Arrows). It would be even better (read "cooler") to have a terrain flow simulation available. Basically what I envision would be the same flow arrows that I mentioned above, just animated so you can visually see where rainwater would flow down a hillside for example. The ability to export to a video file format would also be a nice plus.   Show More

A simple water drop feature (like the one in Civil 3D) would be a nice little addition. I envision it working the same as Civil 3D with one difference... when the command is done, the water drop lines are auto-magically deleted. Similar to the way the Path Distance command in Infraworks currently works where once the command is done, the red distance lines are deleted. Show More

I can quickly create a detention pond but there are no preliminary design tools to tell me if it has the required volume.   Land Area Asset Card additions:   -Add a total volume property for the brim full volume of depressions, and volume for mounding (Fill). -Add a an ellipsis button that brings out a Stage-Storage curve for pond (depression), and a Elev-Volume table for mounding (Fill).   -Automatic Volume: Allow the user to enter a desired volume and have the land area raise up or down to attain the volume. Maintain the vertices' relative elevation differences to each other so that the floor grading of the pond remains flowing to the discharge point.         Show More
