Selecting the stock contour for 2d contouring

Hey,

I'm trying to select the stock contour as toolpath for my 2d contouring as there is additional stock to the actual stock

I wanna remove with a different mill/strategy. (came out of a round piece, this is 2nd op)

But it doesn't let me select it to use.

Any Ideas?

maybe there is a way to create a sketch from your stock boundaries?

Kind regards, Odin

I'm not sure exactly what you are doing, but it looks a lot like some things I need to do. But I do it the other way around. I create stock components in my Design, then I select that "stock solid" in the Manufacture setups I create. It's often the only way to do what I need to do, since in many ways the Design tools are more powerful, especially when it comes to using User Parameters. It also allows me better control of where the Model is positioned relative to the stock.

A similar process is creating sketches that I then use as machining boundaries for Adaptive and Parallel 3D toolpaths.

I know this isn't a specific answer, but maybe the general concept can help?

just make a sketch of this stock boundary you want then select that, or define your job stock properly from the get go.

Thanks, yeah that's probably the best way of doing it. Pretty weird how it's impossible to select stock contours though. Fusion 360 is pretty great for models but as soon as you wanna draw some custom lines it's not very intuitive.

I use the software 'OneCNC' for another machine and there drawing and selecting lines is very easy.
