Lathe (turning) Tailstock Interference Detection

Hello.

I have a question, and maybe(?) a feature request for CAM for turning. There is a section in the SETUP dialog where you can input information or a model of your chuck, but what about your tailstock for interferrece detection. I'm using a live center for a part I'm working on now, and being able to avoid crashing into the center would be nice.

And for fun, a picture 🙂

Thank you everyone.Live Center.png

I've not played much with the Lathe function, but on the mill side, we are able to specify "Fixtures", be it clamps, vises, etc. Looking at what Lathe has to offer, I don't see that as an option.

If you put it up on the IdeaStation, it's got my vote!

Exactly, that's what we need. I had see the mill setup for inteference detection too, it seems turning could use some love 🙂

Well, now I'm curious... because I don't see where you can "input information or a model of your chuck".  I can't find it anywhere - are you using Fusion or HSM Works?

It is interesting that as part of the Tool settings for most of the operations you can selected a check box for "Use Tailstock" to output an M code for a cnc tailstock, but it doesn't allow you to define the tailstock at all.

It is in the turning SETUP within the "Setup" tab. See below:

I think you might be in Beta mode. I don't have that either.
