Hello,

Is there a DNC feature in the post processor?

Autodesk has given DNC feature in their free CAM software "HSMXpress"

But here in fusion 360 I am not able to use DNC through the post processor.

Please guide me how to enable the same?

If you still have the free HSMExpress editor, you can re-assign Fusion to use that as the editor. To do so, go to Preferences > CAM and at the top there is the option for External Editor. Direct it to where your editor is stored and you can double click and select it

But no, the stock editor is very limited in it's ability

EDIT: And the reason that the Fusion Editor is limited in it's ability; They needed something that would be able to work in Apple and Windows products. HSMExpress cannot do that.

Hi Seth,

My goal is to DNC through Fusion 360 on a Windows 64 bit computer, on which there is no prior installation of SolidWorks. So, how can i install the HSMExpress editor on a fresh Windows platform where there is only Fusion 360 and no Autodesk Inventor or Solidworks?

if it is not possible then please recommend any other reliable DNC software (I will like it more if it is free) so that I can use Fusion 360 CAM to run longer programs through it.

A google search for DNC software yields a plethora of options. One name I've encountered many times is NCNet Lite, available HERE

Not knowing how HSMExpress is downloaded, is it possible to download it anyway without a copy of SW and gain access to the editor?

What machine do you have. If you can adjust the settings Heidenhain have a nice free DNC program.

Look here under PC software - TNCRemo http://www.heidenhain.com/en_US/software/

Hi, NCNet Lite does not have drip feeding. It is simply a basic program transfer software. So i will not be able to run long programs directly from my laptop.
HSMExpress can only be activated if SW is activated and installed. So, it is not possible to gain access to it's editor without first activating SW.

Do you know of any free DNC software that can run on Windows 64 bit and also has drip-feeding capability?

Hi Mark, I am having a TOPPER TMV-610A vertical machining center with FANUC O-M control.

Do you know of a simpler software such as NC-Link (which works only on Windows 32 bit) for Windows 64 bit.

On TNCRemo, I was not able to locate settings for drip-feeding longer programs.

I'm not sure if TNCRemo will drip feed to a Fanuc control. Run TNCserver open the configuration, under general set to TNC 2500b, protocol set to FE. I think the FE setting uses software for drip feed not hardware so the machine and software need to send codes back and forth.

You'll need to set your machine to Data bits 7 Even and one stop bit. The default on my Fanuc lathe was 2 stop bits, I've used it with the ME setting in TNCserver and it works well but that doesn't allow drip feed.

Not sure you'll find a free DNC that does drip feed.
