FYI -- Web filtering work around

I wanted to make the Autodesk team and more importantly, fellow Educators, aware of a loophole through the Fusion 360 online application that allows students to bypass our web filtering.

Students can click the information button on any tool, open "Tips" and then click the "More Information" button. This launches Internet Explorer within the web app. This IE allows students to bypass any filtering, as our weblogs only show the student on "fusion.online.autodesk.com/webapp" and no other traffic.

This is being done on Chromebooks, so through the Chrome browser and Chrome OS.

Is there anyway Autodesk can adjust their webapp to NOT launch IE, but utilize the browser being used by the student (for example, open a new tab in Chrome?).

Hi @lauren.luckert

Thanks for posting this information. I passed this onto the Fusion 360 development team. I'll let you know if they have any feedback or suggestions

Thanks for reaching out. We just made a fix that prevents this from happening. Should be available in the next Fusion 360 update.
