If you were Offline during the Fusion 360 Maintenance window - PLEASE READ!!

If you were working Offline during the Fusion 360 maintenance window that occurred on Saturday May 7, 2016 (Sunday May 8, 2016 in some locales) and your work involved one of the following scenarios this is applicable to you.

1. You Created new designs by inserting other design(s) into it (external references) and saved it.

2. You Edited an existing design that contained links to other designs (external references) and saved it.

In either of these situations, once you updated to the latest version of Fusion 360, the links (external references) in the design that is using them may be broken.  This might not be apparent if you are opening the design on the SAME COMPUTER where you were working offline.  You can confirm if you are impacted by clicking on "Open A360 details" where you will not see the data in the viewer.  If the design (that is using the external references) is opened on a different computer, you could see errors.

ACTION THAT WE STRONGLY ENCOURAGE YOU TAKE:

1. Launch Fusion 360 on the SAME COMPUTER (this is very important) where you created or edited the design that contains external references.  Verify that you are online and have good connectivity.

2. Click on Help > About and verify that the Build Number is 2.0.2013 (it would be 2.0.2012 if you installed from the Mac App Store)

3. Open the design that contains the external references.  The design should Open with all the external references intact.

4. Make a small change and Save the design (that contains the external references) again.  Note: there is no need to save each of the external references separately.

If after reading this you feel this situation is applicable to you please DO NOT attempt an uninstall and reinstall.  If you are unsure or still have issues after following the above steps, please post on the forum in response to this message and we will work with you.

We sincerely apologize for this issue and appreciate your patience in working with us.

best regards,

Sanjay Jayabal

(On behalf of the Fusion 360 Team).

I'm experiencing the slow running of this application Fusion 360 when I started designing and using the patch and the shell.. What do you think Sir, am I using a wrong command or is it the computer that made slow?

@Anonymous Welcome to the Fusion community. From your description of the issue, I would guess that you are reporting a separate issue here.

Do you find that the shell command is slow if you start a new workspace, create a box primitive and then use the command?

What I'm trying to determine is does your issue impact one design or all designs? I note there are several help articles designed to improve stability and performance in the below link. Please have a look and let us know if they help!

Hopefully they do! Thanks!

Hello,

I ran into an issue that sounds related but not identical. I was working on a design that contains a bunch of linked components offline during the maintenance, and when I opened it next time (on the same computer), all the linked components are now "UnresolvedComponent:1" or "UnresolvedComponent:2". The component insertion features are red with errors that say "Component Insert UnresolvedComponent:1 Compute Failed". Any idea how to recover this?

Thanks for reporting this issue to us! Can you provide two things?

  • A copy of the diagnostic log files (see command on the help drop down menu) to generate a zip of the log files
  • A shared public link of the design.. you can send me a private message with the link if you prefer to keep the file private.

I look forward to your reply.

Hi Nathan,

Thanks for responding. I've attached the diagnostic log. A link to the design is http://a360.co/1stqfBG

Do you need any info about the linked components that were lost?

Thank you for the data. I've just sent you a request via private message in the forum. Let me know if you do not receive the message!

Thanks,
