Diameter and Radius dimensions - horizontal

Diameter and Radius dimensions - horizontal

Hi Guys,

Could you help me with some settings in Drawings? I want the dimensions on diameters and radius to be shown horizontal. Right now they are just showing aligned to the radius or diameter line. I want the dimensions to be shown as on the picture on the right.

Thank you!

Did you default to ISO standard

or

did you select ASME standard?

Hi, yes, I've tried all options, but it should be some sort of settings for dimensions.

On the tutorial videos, values are set horisonta as standard, it appears?

Hi Maasen2010,

As TheCADWhisperer has already pointed out, this is controlled by the Standard that is selected during drawing creation - the text is aligned with the dimension in ISO drawings, it will be horizontal in ASME. To confirm what standard you are using, you could expand the Annotation Settings menu at the bottom of the drawing:

ASME_Dimension.png

If for some reason the menu shows ASME but your dimensions are still created with aligned text, that is a bug. In this case, it would be helpful if you can provide a screenshot of the Drawing section in the Preferences dialog as well as clarify what settings you are using in the new drawing dialog, design units.

Thanks,

Krithika

Why is it not possible to use ISO with the variation of horizontal diameter and radius dimensions? I want to show them horizontally but also need an ISO page size (as per Australian standard).

i agree with you on this. it seems that drawing standards have "melded" over the years and especially with the use of CAD packages.  If we were to stick to ASME or ISO then why is there choices to override some settings?

Drawings seem to be the main thing that is putting me off this package right now.  the 3d part seems really easy but drawings are tedious.

I assume there is still no way to change this? Or have any control over the standards for drawings?

I would love to see the ability to use Extension Lines with arrows for diameters and radius as per the ASME but in and ISO drawing environment.

Not every drawing, workshop or part require rigid standard compliance.  Flexibility is far more useful for most users.

How about a tick box in preferences that allows for strict conformity to AMSE or ISO, if neither are selected then you can have a list of options become available that users could then customise their drawings as much as they need.

Just a suggestion.

I've just come across this issue too. It was unexpected for me, because I have always selected ISO units for my designs, and historically, radius and circumference dimensions were printed horizontally even for ISO. You can see it in the attached screenshot of a drawing I completed 6 months ago. I suppose this functionality has changed in newer updates to the program? I agree with other posters having the flexibility to choose which standards style to apply to each entity individually would be more helpful for many users, especially the non-professionals (like myself)

Thanks for posting. I also would like to be able to override the ISO standard so that the radial dimensions display horizontally instead of aligned.

Likewise. I spent 20 years working as an automotive engineer using ISO standards and can't ever remember seeing radius or circle leaders with text at angles like this. Option needed to change it please Autodesk.
