Change rendering orientation/lighting

If the surface you are trying to render is on the bottom it is not illuminated.
Is there a way to change this without needing to rotate the actual part?

Hi Yoshimitsuspeed,
you can change your camera position settings using the view cube to change front or top. This doesn't change the position of the geometry, just the camera position so you can show the surface that you care about. I'll post a video to show you this.

You got it Jamie, beat me to it.

 

Here are the helpful pictures I prepared. One thing, the view cube will also determine where the "floor" is, so while you don't have to move the model, it will appear as if you did. All the shadows and reflections respond to where the "floor" is.

I came here with the same question as @yoshimitsuspeed.. The behavior or at least the layout is very different now.  See the screenshot below.
