Wire EDM 4 axis in Fusion360 CAM

Wire EDM 4 axis in Fusion360 CAM

Hi,

Support for Wire EDM cutting would be really appreciated. The plasma function should be half way there.

  1. 4-axis support "XYUV" from 2 sketches with an offset (top and bottom) would be a good start.
  2. Changeble Z-Heigh for machines that support that, to be abel to cut diffrent parts without manually change the z height.
  3. Support to contour a inner/outer-3d surface from a solid model.
  4. Wire thread and start/end cut points.
  5. Lean in/out from lines.
  6. Multiple passes, rough and fine pass (nr of fine passes and stock to leave).

A 2d option to begin with would be a huge step and atleast help me and others 90% of the time. I would gladly help with what functions and behaivor it should have to begin with. All the cutting compensation are made 99% of the time in the controller anyway. Please contact me if you have motivation to add this feature.

We were originally a Delcam for Solidwork customer and the Wire option is still being used. We were switched to FeatureCam and don't really like it. Fusion 360 for Milling has been excellent wire edm should be very simple compared to milling.

Adding this function would make Fusion 360 a complete player in the programming field.

Yes indeed, alot of folks ave a 2nd cam software just becouse of this, and its not needed. wire edm are very easy conturs so should not be a big deal to add vs the amount of peaple that will be using it.

Any updates on if Fusion 360 has added anything or how to use what is there on a 4-Axis Wire EDM.  We have one and we have used Mastercam for years, but Fusion 360 has started to replace our Milling Cam work in Mastercam it would be nice to use some modern options on the Wire.
