Since this is not a BUG as such (or is it?), here it goes into 'ideas'.
Every time the Autodesk Desktop App updates it keeps putting its own icon back on my desktop.
I run a very clean desktop with only the tools I want and use allowed on it. I do not need or want useless (for day to day work) icons wasting my space and time and competing for my real estate.
Honor my decision to not have it on my desktop. There is no reason to keep forcing it down my throat all of the time. I have the application installed. It is easily available to me within my start screen / start menu. Honor that.
If you stop replacing the shortcut destination during an upgrade, if I have the icon (shortcut) on my desktop, it doesn't need replacement.
You also do not need to do a blind re-installation of it every time. Just store a single value in the registry named 'ADADesktop' and set it to 1 if allowed, and 0 if not allowed. Then the installer can look for that and honor the setting.
