Stop Auto-Addign Desktop and Start Menu Shortcuts (Continued)

Stop Auto-Addign Desktop and Start Menu Shortcuts (Continued)

I bring this up because the original request was marked as implemented last year which is not the case.

I'm pulling it up as a New request to bring attention back around to it, since Implemented ideas get less attention.

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/ideastation-request-a-feature-or/stop-auto-addign-desktop-and-start-m...

On Windows 7 and 10 (have not tried 8) this is still an issue as of the latest release which I updated to on 6/1/17. Comments from the other post say the same for other people.

I agree - this is a really annoying/arrogant behavior.

This is my computer and I will decide how to manage my Desktop and Start menu - not you.

Autodesk is a guest on my machine - act like it.

The logic is simple:

If first_time_install

ask if I want short cuts/menu items, etc.

else if update_install AND desktop_shortcut_exists

  update shortcut link

else

Do NOT ADD A %#*%^ Shortcut!!! - I've either opted out at first install or I've deleted it.

end

Totally agree!

Drives me nuts, my desktop is like my kitchen, I wouldn't allow Tesco to organize it for me!

Get rid of this annoying, pointless/benefit-less feature please.

August 23rd 2018 STILL AN ISSUE ! Everytime I open F360 it creates a new desktop icon. If I delet it it recreates it upon next launch even without updates ! I think 6 years is long enough to fix this ...

Same problem. Equally annoyed. Don't auto-add shortcuts with updates. It's poor etiquette.

I can't believe this is STILL going on!

I've used Fusion for years now and at least once a month I have to delete these stupid shortcuts.

Why are they still installing? Are you trying to remind me that I have Fusion on my computer? I wouldn't be opening it and getting the update and shortcuts if I didn't remember it in the first place!

I feel like we should just start emailing the developers separately after each update with nothing useful, just "shortcut".

Even though this has practically no impact to my workflow (unlike Fusion's poor 2d sketch and assembly performance) this issue is a nagging one that bugs me way more than it should.
