Reduce wasted space in UI

Reduce wasted space in UI

Tighten the UI to get a lot more screenspace by:

  1. reducing the space between the toolbar icons and the text which appears below
  2. reducing the space used up by the tabs, (this is totally dead space)
  3. offering a 'small icon' option in the preferences, (same size as view control icons at base of window)
  4. having an option to not show text under the icons
  5. reducing the space between menu options in the pop up menus, (Sketch Palette being the prime example),
  6. reducing the space on the side of the Sketch Palette menu

Hi Nick, note that most of the items you are refering to are intended to be changed in the next few releases. You can find a preview in the blog-section of the forum.

That's great!  However, I cannot find the, "blog-section of the forum".  Do you mean the roadmap from Feb 2018? There is scant information but there is this :

...This will also increase toolbar real-estate, giving you more room for the tools you use the most....

I really hope the author means the reverse of what is written here, that tool bar real estate will be decreased, not increased !  What we want, (I want), is good access to the tools I need in the minimum screen real estate possible. I guess we'll just wait and see.

Hi Nick,

No, sorry, that's not the one; I meant to refer to this post. It shows a preview/concept of the interface that is coming up.

Actually, now I notice that the sketch pallette is not going to be slimmed down much. The constraint will be moved up to the ribbon though. That will add much more space on screen.

Unfortunately no announcement of small icons in the ribbon just yet. Let's hope it will be added soon!

anything of these have been adressed in the latest update ? if so why this forum isnt curated
