moments of inertia constraints for generative designs

moments of inertia constraints for generative designs

In mechanical design it is often useful to place a center of mass, or to design for specific higher order moments of inertia.

It'd be awesome if it was possible to make a generative design where we say «I want the center of mass here, these should be the three principle axes and desired moments of inertia, and possibly these are the higher order moments.

That would allow users to specify the mechanical properties of a part and generate an optimized geometry with those.

A simple example application would be designing a top that has an interesting geometry, and a more practical example would be designing linkages in a robot arm or for heavy machinery
