manipulator options

manipulator options

There are two things that i think could be relatively easy to implement, which right now, drive me up the freakin wall.

1. Sometimes in 3d space, it's hard to tell which of the white arrows point in the direction i'm trying to move. They are sometimes facing pretty much the same direction because of the angle of view........   Color coded arrows, like every other software in existance would be great, or at least the possibility to change them myself or leave them as stock if i wanted them white.  I don't SEE this option, however it may exist.

2. When doing things in "edit feature" mode, like manipulating T-spline objects,  sometimes you have to select multiple dots, or edges, and the manipulator gets in the way of selecting the next one in line (presuming that you are not trying to select everything in line, and only need, say, 3 items to be selected)..   what this means is, if you have 3 lines _ _ _ you have to select the first, then the 3rd then the second because the manipulator can block the second one from being clicked.    OR, sometimes you move a point or an edge and are done with it and want to move a different edge or surface or point but the manipulator is in the way, so, you have to click some other surface out of the way to expose what you actually want to click on. this takes too much time.    however, if you click escape to get rid of the manipulator, you have to restart the tool! there's no way around this and a huge source of annoyance.

3. This isn't really a product idea, but, it's worth noting, that, if i am moving the view cube and holding down the mouse button, and spontaneousely click save, which, i do OFTEN so i don't lose my work, it will keep me in this wierd thing, where no matter what i do, the view cube is selected and moves freely and i cannot undo it. I have to close the project and re-open it.     I've yet to find a button or hot key which does this, so cannot undo it.  it's just a weird glitch i think?

anyway, that's my gripe section...

as for other things, if i am working on a solid, like a rounded cone (meaning a cone that is somewhat rounded instead of a triangle at side view, ) and i want to cut something out of the side of it, i have to create a sketch, draw a line in the center at the angle i want, then create an offset plane from that sketch towards the opposite end (pointy side) of the triangle, and draw or project the first line onto a sketch on that construction plane, then, i have 4 points, which, i can use "make a plane with 3 points" and then make an offset plane from there in the general area that i want to make another sketch to make the tool i need to cut it.. why can't we just.... select in 3d space where we want to make the construction plane.    there is a tangent option for cylinders that works sometimes, but nothing for a drawn curved solid.

did you understand the method i have to use?  probably not...  therefore it should be much easier...  sometimes people get used to doing stuff like that and just see it as second nature, whereas, i REALLY want to spend more time modeling, not making sketches to make construction planes to make more sketches, essentially setting up jigs to make the part....    i do like sketches and construction planes, i just simply, wish i could  use the grid view, select the plane i want it, and move it where i want it and then ANGLE the construction plane i just created..........   make sense????     i don't know, maybe this IS possible and i haven't figured out how.

cool. thanks...

and btw. the image i uploaded, in all honesty is fairly obfuscated, but it gets my point across.

Thanks for your post - you have a multiple ideas and issues reports in this post, so I'm archiving it.

on your 1., we are working on showing the world coordinate system on the viewcube so you know where you're orbiting around.

On the screenshot you attached, the best way to go about designing that shape is with a sketch > Arc and Sketch > line to make a section profile of the shape and then do a Create > Revolve.
