Include better snapping features in sketching.

Include better snapping features in sketching.

it is really frustrating when you need to create a bunch of geometries just to snap to a point on a geometry. Autocad offers really good snapping features. This Improves productivity dramatically. Also, polar snapping is a very convenient tool.

I request Team Fusion to please consider adding following features if possible:

1. Snapping to different geometries like midpoint, quadrant of circles, the intersection of lines, etc.

2. "Ortho" feature which restricts cursor in horizontal and vertical directions only.

3. Polar snap which has a set of angles which the cursor snaps to.

I've attached pictures to explain the exact feature just in case the reader doesn't understand.

Regards!

So good idea! I'm suffering not having AutoCAD-like snapping options in F360.

Snapping to background geometry without projecting it would be most useful!

Object snap to mid point has already been implemented.

This is a feature previously requested in this idea post, but the Quadrant snap hasn't been implemented yet.

Snapping should be rethinked in Fusion360 as now it is 'retarded' compared to AutoCAD and others...

I can't say I've wanted another type of constraint to be added (especially now that I've discovered "point" which can be added coincident to lines").

What I do find, is that I'm constantly scrolling to the bottom of the constraints dialogue box to get to the '=' constraint.

It would be nice if I could dock just the constraints part of the dialogue box and control it's width (so I can show either one column (with scrolling if required), or two or more column's without scrolling)

yea I fully agree

This has been brought up numerous times.   here's one flagged as "future consideration" some time ago..

as a formally trained AutoCAD user, o-snaps are HUGE time savers.
a legacy function such as this should have never been overlooked by another AutoDesk product.

I so much agree that Fusion 360, though it has some handy snapping and constraining tools,  really needs AutoCAD-like snapping and tracking system, which is almost perfect for accurate designing.

More flexible and sketch-like snapping is also desirable in the move and rotate modes.

Hope this idea will be considered by Autodesk as soon as possible.

Please do not do this.

Hi everyone,

As we prepare to update our sketch roadmap I wanted to provide an update on this specific request. While we want efficient sketching and understand many of you have become incredibly efficient at drawing in AutoCAD this thread began as a request for AutoCAD like snaps and evolved into possible improvements in constraints, constraint application, and constraint management. This original request will be archived. We do understand this request but feel it will likely be addressed in a different way. As we move forward we will be looking to focus more toward improvements in how constraints are applied and managed.

Thanks,

John

Hi John,

Although my comment requests for "Autocad like" sketching but i feel the
development team has very well developed the sketching environment. I've
noticed the changes in sketching tool since the latest update and it has
improved dramatically. I feel my request has been appropriately answered.
Thanks for all the work. Highly appreciated.
Thanks
